YOUR INSTRUCTOR FOR ALL THINGS SOCIAL
Freelancing was easy. It took some time, but I found what works.
Taking a leap of faith wasn't anything new to me. So I took the leap.
Starting a business is scary. You go all in on yourself. You put faith and trust in other people to help you knowing their passion only goes as far as their paycheck.
Don't let anybody fool you. When it comes to social media...
I am bat shit passionate.
I think this is what Brene' Brown calls vulnerability
In 2009, I noticed something really cool on Facebook. During this time, you could actually be “friends” with brands. I sent a friend request to one of my favorite brands and within a few days my request had been accepted. I commented on one of their posts and the brand responded to my comment.
As a consumer, this made me feel appreciated! I had been a student of marketing and never before experienced anything like this or taught this. Throughout the next couple of years I studied businesses on Facebook and noticed quickly the type of content that worked and what didn’t work.
At that point, I was hooked. I reached out to a couple of friends who owned businesses and asked them if I could manage their social media for them… FOR FREE! I wanted the experience and I was willing to do whatever it took.
Over the years of figuring out what works, learning the algorithms, watching them change CONSTANTLY, there was still a common denominator that still works. Social media can be complicated and challenging at times. Learning to adapt to the changes is a big struggle for most, but my passion for relentless exploration and problem solving will always bring relevant solutions to the table.
The picture you see with me and marketing pro Cedric Harris was taken in late 2016 at a marketing event in Florida. I was unknowingly approaching the end of a toxic relationship that had taken a toll on not only on my body, but my dreams and aspirations. While I seemingly held it together…
In order to keep my sanity, I dove deeper into social media management and digital marketing. It was my escape. It brought me my “Marie Kondo Joy”. Even though I was working 12, 14, 16, even 18 hour days, I never once felt like I was working.
On January 20, 2017, something happened. Verbal abuse became physical abuse. I knew that if I didn’t change something and protect my family, nothing would change and my family would not be protected. Honestly, I’m not sure that I would be here today.
Without a dime to my name, I took a leap of faith and left.
As scary as it wasn’t leaving that situation, nothing prepared me for what was about to happen in the next 18 months.
finding what works
I found myself in a job where my employer was much like my now ex-husband. I basically went from one abusive relationship to another and I wasn’t going to have that. No ma’am!
I went on a personal development path of finding what works not only for my clients, but for myself as a person and as a business owner.
I took another leap of faith.
You can't put a price on happiness.
BOUGHT A BUSINESS LICENSE!
LOST 100 POUNDS!
BOUGHT A HOUSE!
AND THE REST IS ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL!
